The Sonus faber Concertino G4 brings one of the company's most recognizable compact speaker designs into a new generation. Originally introduced in 1994, the Concertino has become an important part of Sonus faber's history. The G4 retains the distinctive trapezoidal cabinet shape while introducing a new cork enclosure structure, updated drivers, a rear-firing reflex port and a phase-coherent crossover.
 
The Concertino G4 is a two-way, bass-reflex bookshelf speaker using a 1.1-inch DAD Arrow Point silk-dome tweeter and a 5.25-inch long-throw midwoofer with a ferrite magnet. The DAD, or Damped Apex Dome, design is a familiar Sonus faber technology intended to control the tweeter's diaphragm behavior and improve high-frequency dispersion.
 
One of the most unusual aspects of the Concertino G4 is its cork enclosure. The central structure is formed from cork, which provides rigidity while helping control internal resonances. Sonus faber designed the structure to reduce the need for conventional damping material inside the cabinet. The reflex port is located on the rear of the enclosure, reducing the possibility of turbulence around the front of the speaker.
 
The cabinet also reflects Sonus faber's emphasis on natural materials. The side panels are made from solid walnut, while the front and central cork structure are covered with a plant-based leather alternative developed by the Italian company Ohoskin. The material is produced using derivatives of Sicilian oranges and prickly pears. Brass and wood details complete the speaker's traditional Italian aesthetic.
 
A phase-coherent crossover operates at 1,700Hz and is designed to maintain more consistent phase relationships between the tweeter and midwoofer. The result is intended to preserve the speaker's ability to produce a stable, well-defined stereo image from a relatively compact enclosure.
 
The Concertino G4 is rated at 85dB sensitivity with a nominal 4-ohm impedance and is designed to work with amplifiers from 30 to 150 watts. Its frequency response is specified at 60Hz–25kHz.
 
The optional Iron Stand is designed specifically for the Concertino G4. It raises the speaker to a more appropriate listening height while incorporating iron construction with walnut veneer accents.
