STANDS NOT INCLUDED
The Paradigm Premier 120B v2 is a compact two-way bookshelf speaker designed to bring technologies developed for Paradigm’s higher-performance loudspeakers into a more accessible format. It combines a 1-inch AL-MAC ceramic dome tweeter, a 5.5-inch AL-MAG mid/bass driver, PPA phase-alignment technology, and an Oblate Spheroidal Waveguide in a rigid, internally braced cabinet.
The result is a speaker designed for accurate reproduction with broad dispersion and controlled response, making the 120B v2 well suited to both two-channel music systems and compact home theater applications.
AL-MAC Ceramic Dome Tweeter
The 1-inch AL-MAC high-frequency driver combines aluminum, magnesium, and ceramic in a specialized diaphragm designed to reduce unwanted resonances while maintaining a smooth, extended treble response. The tweeter is ferro-fluid damped and cooled for improved thermal performance.
An Oblate Spheroidal Waveguide (OSW) controls the tweeter's dispersion and helps maintain consistent response across a wider listening area. Paradigm's Perforated Phase-Aligning (PPA) Lens is integrated with the tweeter to improve phase alignment and reduce interference between the high-frequency and mid/bass drivers.
AL-MAG Mid/Bass Driver
The 5.5-inch AL-MAG mid/bass driver uses an aluminum/magnesium cone engineered for high sensitivity and fast response. Its high-excursion design incorporates Paradigm's third-generation Active Ridge Technology (ART) surround and Vertical Mounting System.
A PPA Lens is also integrated into the mid/bass driver. The motor system uses a 1-inch high-temperature multilayer voice coil mounted on a ventilated Apical former, allowing the driver to handle substantial excursion while maintaining control.
Rigid, Internally Braced Cabinet
The 120B v2 uses a ported MDF cabinet with extensive internal bracing designed to minimize cabinet resonance and coloration. The enclosure is finished in Piano Black, Black Walnut, Walnut, or Satin White, with magnetic grilles included.
The Walnut and Black Walnut finishes use real wood veneer, while Piano Black and Satin White are painted finishes.
Wide, Consistent Dispersion
The combination of the OSW waveguide and PPA Lens helps control dispersion and maintain a consistent tonal balance away from the central listening position. Paradigm specifies a response of ±3dB from 62Hz to 23kHz on-axis and ±3dB from 62Hz to 20kHz at 30 degrees off-axis.
The 120B v2 is compact enough for desktop, shelf, or stand-mounted systems while offering a low-frequency extension of 39Hz according to the DIN measurement standard.
