The Paradigm Premier 820F v2 is the larger floorstanding model in the redesigned Premier v2 series. It uses a 4-driver, 3-way configuration with a 1-inch AL-MAC ceramic dome tweeter, a dedicated 6-inch AL-MAG midrange, and two 7-inch Carbon-X bass drivers. The combination gives the 820F v2 substantially greater low-frequency capability and dynamic output than the smaller Premier 720F v2 while retaining the same core driver technologies.
The Premier v2 series incorporates technologies developed through Paradigm's higher-performance loudspeaker lines, including the AL-MAC and AL-MAG driver materials, Carbon-X bass drivers, OSW waveguide, PPA Lens, and Gen3 Active Ridge Technology.
AL-MAC Ceramic Dome Tweeter
The 1-inch AL-MAC tweeter combines aluminum, magnesium, and ceramic in a rigid diaphragm designed to suppress unwanted resonances. It is ferro-fluid damped and cooled for improved thermal performance.
The tweeter uses Paradigm's Oblate Spheroid Waveguide (OSW) to control dispersion, while the Perforated Phase-Aligning (PPA) Lens helps maintain phase alignment through the transition between the high-frequency and midrange drivers. The result is controlled dispersion with consistent response over a wider listening area.
Dedicated AL-MAG Midrange
The 6-inch AL-MAG midrange driver handles the critical vocal and instrumental frequencies separately from the bass section. Its aluminum/magnesium cone is designed to combine rigidity with low moving mass and fast response.
The driver incorporates a PPA Lens along with a 2-inch high-temperature multilayer voice coil and ventilated Apical former. Using a dedicated midrange allows the 820F v2 to maintain greater control through the midband while the two woofers concentrate on low-frequency reproduction.
Dual Carbon-X Bass Drivers
Two 7-inch Carbon-X unibody bass drivers provide the low-frequency output. The Carbon-X design uses a single-piece cone construction intended to maintain rigidity during high excursion while controlling distortion.
Both bass drivers incorporate Paradigm's Gen3 Active Ridge Technology (ART) and Vertical Mounting System (VMS). The ART surround is integrated with the driver to allow greater excursion, while VMS increases usable cone area within the driver assembly.
The 820F v2 reaches down to 21Hz using Paradigm's DIN low-frequency measurement, giving it considerable bass extension for a speaker of its size.
Cabinet and Dispersion
The 820F v2 uses a ported cabinet designed around the four-driver, three-way architecture. Its OSW waveguide and PPA Lens help maintain consistent off-axis response, with Paradigm specifying ±3dB from 52Hz to 23kHz on-axis and 52Hz to 20kHz at 30 degrees off-axis.
With 93dB room sensitivity and compatibility with 8-ohm amplification, the 820F v2 can be paired with a broad range of integrated amplifiers and power amplifiers. Outrigger feet with rubber floor protectors are included.
