The AudioSolutions Figaro B2 is a compact two-way bookshelf loudspeaker and the larger of the two standmount models in the second-generation Figaro series. It combines a Mini-Horn loaded silk-dome tweeter with a 15.2cm ER paper-cone mid-bass driver, along with AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure construction.

Like the rest of the Figaro range, the B2 is designed for straightforward system matching. Its 89.5dB sensitivity and 4-ohm nominal impedance allow it to work with a wide range of amplifiers, while its compact enclosure makes it suitable for smaller listening rooms and installations where a floorstanding speaker isn't practical.

Two-Way Driver Design

The B2 uses a 19mm silk-dome tweeter and a 15.2cm ER paper-cone mid-bass driver. The mid-bass driver is designed to operate as an Extended-Band driver, allowing AudioSolutions to set the crossover at 4000Hz.

Rather than placing the crossover in the 1000–1500Hz region where human hearing is particularly sensitive, the higher crossover point allows the mid-bass driver to reproduce more of the vocal and instrumental range on its own. AudioSolutions' goal is to reduce the perception of crossover-related distortion and phase changes.

Mini-Horn Loaded Tweeter

The 19mm silk-dome tweeter incorporates AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn loading system. The horn creates acoustic impedance in front of the dome that helps control its movement as output levels increase.

The design addresses the nonlinear movement and cone breakup that can occur when a soft-dome tweeter is driven hard. An additional benefit of the Mini-Horn is increased tweeter efficiency.

ER Paper Cone

The 15.2cm mid-bass driver uses AudioSolutions' ER, or Extra Rigid, paper cone. The cone combines paper with hard pulp and reinforcing fibers to increase rigidity while retaining the damping characteristics associated with traditional paper cones.

The resulting structure is intended to provide more piston-like movement while avoiding the early breakup and ringing that can occur with some rigid cone materials.

Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet

The B2 uses AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure system, originally developed for the company's higher-end Virtuoso series.

The enclosure consists of separate inner and outer cabinets bonded together with a thin layer of viscous polyurethane. The inner cabinet absorbs primary vibrations generated by the drivers, while the polyurethane layer converts vibrational energy into heat. The heavier outer cabinet then provides additional mass damping.

This construction is designed to suppress unwanted cabinet resonances and provide the drivers with a more controlled enclosure.

Finish and Customization

The Figaro B2 features the updated Figaro styling, including the modern cabinet shape and available brass accents. Three standard high-gloss finishes are offered: Pearl White, Zinc Grey and Dark Grey. AudioSolutions also offers bespoke satin finishes and custom configurations through its Exclusive Personalisation program.
