The Audeze LCD-5s is the latest flagship open-back planar magnetic headphone from Audeze, combining a new 90mm driver design with the company's Fluxor magnet array, Fazor phase management and SLAM acoustic management.
 
Compared with the original LCD-5, the LCD-5s focuses on a more natural tonal balance, improved bass extension and a more comfortable fit while retaining the low-mass diaphragm and high level of detail expected from Audeze's flagship headphones.
 
At the center of the LCD-5s is a new Nano-Scale Parallel Uniforce diaphragm. The extremely thin diaphragm is designed for fast, precise movement, while the revised chassis and driver structure allow Audeze to fine-tune the midrange with greater precision. The result is a headphone designed for critical listening, mastering and high-resolution music playback.
 
SLAM acoustic management is used to improve driver control in the low frequencies. The system is designed to provide greater bass extension and physical impact while maintaining the open character of the LCD-5s. The combination of the new driver and SLAM also contributes to the headphone's wide presentation and precise spatial imaging.
 
The LCD-5s uses Audeze's Fluxor magnet array with N50 neodymium magnets and Fazor phase management. These technologies work together to control the magnetic field around the planar diaphragm and reduce unwanted interference as the diaphragm moves.
 
Audeze has also redesigned the earpads with a curved geometry intended to improve the seal around the ear while reducing internal reflections. The headphone uses a combination of carbon fiber, magnesium, genuine leather and polished polymer acetate, with copper accents incorporated into the design.
 
The LCD-5s comes with Audeze's premium high-purity OCC copper cable terminated with a 4-pin XLR connector. A 4-pin XLR to 6.3mm TRS adapter is included, along with an aluminum travel case.
