The Audeze MM-520 is a professional open-back headphone developed with Grammy-winning mix engineer Manny Marroquin for recording, mixing and critical listening. It builds on the MM-Series platform with a revised 90mm planar magnetic driver and Audeze's SLAM acoustic technology, giving the MM-520 a tighter low end and more focused presentation while maintaining the detailed midrange needed for studio work.
The 90mm planar magnetic driver uses Audeze's Ultra-Thin Uniforce diaphragm and Fluxor magnet array. Fazor phase management helps control the interaction between the diaphragm and magnetic structure, while SLAM is used to improve low-frequency definition and spatial detail.
The MM-520 is designed around accurate monitoring rather than a deliberately colored presentation. Its 102dB sensitivity and 18-ohm impedance also make it relatively easy to drive from studio interfaces, mixing consoles and portable equipment.
Comfort has also been addressed with upgraded memory-foam earpads. The pads attach magnetically, making them easy to remove for cleaning or replacement. The open-back design allows the driver to operate without the enclosure resonance associated with closed headphones and is intended for critical listening in a controlled environment.
Audeze develops and refines the MM-520 in its Southern California facility. The headphone comes with a 2.5-meter cable, 3.5mm-to-6.3mm adapter, travel case and MM-Series soft carry bag.
