The Eversolo DAC-Z10 is a high-performance digital-to-analog converter and fully balanced preamplifier designed around a fully isolated architecture, dual-mono AKM conversion, precision R2R volume control, and an advanced clocking system. Built for systems centered around a separate DAC and power amplifier, the DAC-Z10 combines extensive digital connectivity with a high-quality analog preamplifier, dedicated headphone amplification, and support for external master clocks.
Fully Isolated Architecture
Eversolo's Fully Isolated Architecture (FIA) separates the digital and analog sections of the DAC-Z10 to reduce interference and preserve signal purity. Three independent ultra-low-noise linear power supplies are dedicated to the left channel, right channel, and system circuitry. Each channel therefore operates from its own isolated power supply, with total noise from the power supply section specified as low as 42μV.
The DAC section uses independent AK4191 + AK4499 conversion modules for the left and right channels. The fully balanced configuration is designed to maximize channel separation and dynamic range while taking advantage of AKM's Velvet Sound architecture.
The DAC-Z10 supports native DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit.
Precision R2R Volume Control
Rather than using a conventional digital volume control, the DAC-Z10 employs a precision R2R resistor-array volume control. The analog volume circuit is designed to maintain signal integrity and resolution throughout the volume range, making the DAC-Z10 suitable for direct connection to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.
The fully balanced preamplifier section provides both XLR and RCA analog inputs, with up to +10dB of analog gain. XLR and RCA preamp outputs are provided for connection to downstream amplification.
Eversolo Precision Core Clock System
The DAC-Z10 incorporates an OCXO temperature-controlled crystal oscillator combined with PLL technology and FPGA clock reconstruction. The OCXO maintains highly stable timing while the FPGA processes incoming digital data and reconstructs the clock before the signal reaches the DAC.
For systems requiring an external reference, the DAC-Z10 also accepts 10MHz or 25MHz external clock signals with selectable 50Ω or 75Ω impedance.
Extensive Digital Connectivity
The DAC-Z10 provides a wide range of digital inputs, including USB-B, IIS, AES/EBU, dual optical, dual coaxial, and HDMI ARC/eARC connectivity.
USB-B and IIS inputs support up to PCM 768kHz/32-bit and native DSD512. AES/EBU, optical, and coaxial inputs support PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD64 via DoP. HDMI ARC supports PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit.
The eight-mode IIS input allows the digital interface to be configured for different source components and supports high-resolution PCM and native DSD512.
Dual isolated coaxial inputs allow two separate coaxial sources to remain connected simultaneously while helping minimize interference between components.
Dedicated Headphone Amplifier
A dedicated 6.35mm single-ended headphone output is incorporated into the DAC-Z10. The amplifier automatically detects headphone impedance and provides low, medium, and high gain settings.
Output is specified at up to 1W into 16Ω and 32Ω, with 0.16W available into 300Ω. The recommended headphone impedance range is 16–300Ω.
Bluetooth and Analog Inputs
A Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth module provides wireless audio connectivity with Bluetooth 5.0 and support for SBC and AAC codecs.
For analog sources, the DAC-Z10 provides both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs. This allows conventional analog components to be integrated into the preamplifier section without requiring an additional preamp.
High-Resolution Audio Performance
The XLR output stage provides 5Vrms at 0dBFS, with THD+N specified at 0.00008% and a 130dB signal-to-noise ratio. RCA output is rated at 2.5Vrms, with THD+N of 0.000097% and a 128dB signal-to-noise ratio.
Frequency response for both XLR and RCA outputs is specified at 20Hz–20kHz ±0.1dB.
8.8-Inch Touchscreen
An 8.8-inch IPS touchscreen provides access to input selection, volume control, playback information, digital format information, and system settings. The interface can display the complete signal path, including input source, master clock, filter setting, output format, and left/right channel volume information.
The DAC-Z10 also provides six selectable DAC filter characteristics, adjustable left/right balance gain of up to 15dB, and two XLR polarity modes.
Visual display options include vintage-style VU meters and dynamic spectrum displays.
The DAC-Z10 can be operated from its touchscreen, supplied remote control, or Eversolo's mobile application.
Construction
The chassis is constructed from aviation-grade aluminum with electromagnetic shielding incorporated into the design. A dedicated grounding post is provided to help divert unwanted electrical noise away from the audio circuitry.
The DAC-Z10 measures 365mm × 310mm × 78mm, excluding the feet, and consumes approximately 32W of power.
