The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 combines a high-performance music streamer, DAC, and analog preamplifier in a single component designed to serve as the heart of a modern two-channel system. With extensive digital and analog connectivity, advanced streaming capabilities, sophisticated volume control, room correction, and high-resolution audio support, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 offers the flexibility to build a remarkably capable system around a single source component.
 
At the center of the DMP-A8 Gen 2 is a dual-chip DAC architecture using the AK4191EQ digital processor and AK4499EXEQ DAC. Separating the digital processing and conversion stages allows each part of the signal path to be optimized independently. Eversolo combines this architecture with AKM's Velvet Sound™ technology to produce a clean, highly resolving presentation with a quiet background, precise separation, and natural reproduction of vocals, instruments, and spatial information. The DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports native DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit.
 
The analog preamplifier section is fully balanced and incorporates both XLR and RCA inputs and outputs. A precision R-2R resistor ladder handles volume adjustment in the analog domain, helping preserve dynamics and detail without the attenuation associated with conventional digital volume control. With up to +10dB of gain available from its analog inputs, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 can connect directly to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers, eliminating the need for a separate preamplifier in many systems.
 
Eversolo has also paid particular attention to noise and power-supply design. Separate linear and digital power sections help isolate sensitive analog circuitry from the digital processing stages, while dual ultra-low-phase-noise clocks provide precise timing. The result is impressive measured performance, with THD+N specified at 0.000075% through the balanced output, along with greater than 129dB dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio.
 
The DMP-A8 Gen 2 is designed to function as much more than a network streamer. Its proprietary EOS Audio Engine creates a bit-perfect signal path by bypassing Android's conventional sample-rate conversion, allowing digital audio to remain free from unnecessary secondary processing. The system supports a wide range of high-resolution formats, including DSD, FLAC, APE, and WAV, with playback available up to DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit. Eversolo also provides up to 16× audio upsampling for listeners who want to experiment with additional digital processing.
 
Streaming is handled through an extensive ecosystem of services and protocols. The DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, HIGHRESAUDIO, and other services, along with Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, DLNA/UPnP, and Network Audio Adapter functionality. Local libraries can be accessed through SMB, NFS, and WebDAV, making it equally comfortable working with music stored on a NAS, private cloud, computer, or other network storage device.
 
Connectivity is one of the DMP-A8 Gen 2's greatest strengths. Digital sources can be connected through USB-B, optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, and IIS, while USB audio output can send native DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit to a compatible external DAC. HDMI ARC/eARC allows the audio from a television or projector to be incorporated into the hi-fi system at up to 192kHz/24-bit. The dedicated SFP optical network connection provides another option for electrically isolated network connectivity.
 
A dedicated subwoofer output makes the DMP-A8 Gen 2 particularly useful in systems incorporating powered subwoofers. Its adjustable crossover can be set anywhere from 40Hz to 500Hz, allowing the low-frequency transition to be tailored to the main loudspeakers and listening environment.
 
For listeners who want greater control over system response, the DMP-A8 Gen 2 includes a 20-band parametric equalizer with adjustable frequency, gain, and Q parameters, along with FIR filter import, loudness control, and dynamic range compression. Its evotune™ PRO room-correction system can use either a dedicated USB measurement microphone or a smartphone microphone to analyze the listening environment and create a customized correction filter using DRC-based modeling and FIR filtering.
 
The hardware platform is equally substantial. An eight-core processor, 8GB of DDR5 memory, and 64GB of eMMC storage provide the processing power and responsiveness needed to manage extensive music libraries and applications. An M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 slot on the underside accepts an optional SSD of up to 8TB, providing silent, high-speed storage for a large local music collection without requiring an external computer or server.
 
An 8.6-inch LCD touchscreen provides an intuitive interface for browsing music, controlling playback, and adjusting system settings. The redesigned user interface includes detailed album information, VU meters, spectrum displays, and dynamic visualizations, while Eversolo's Control app provides control from a phone, tablet, web browser, or television. A Bluetooth 5.4 remote is also included for conventional system control.
 
The DMP-A8 Gen 2 is housed in a substantial aerospace-grade aluminum chassis measuring 388 × 265 × 88mm. The rigid enclosure provides shielding against external interference while giving the component the fit and finish expected of a serious high-end source component.
