The Marantz CD 60 is a dedicated premium CD player designed for listeners who want to get more performance from a physical CD collection without adding unnecessary network or video functionality. It combines a carefully engineered CD transport, Marantz's latest HDAM circuitry, high-resolution USB playback, selectable digital filtering, and a dedicated headphone amplifier in a substantial chassis.
Designed and tuned by Marantz's Sound Master, the CD 60 uses a symmetrical audio board layout and a more direct signal path than previous generations of Marantz CD players. The result is a clean, detailed presentation while retaining the musical character associated with Marantz components.
Optimized HDAM Circuitry
The CD 60 uses Marantz's latest HDAM and HDAM-SA2 circuitry in the analog output stage. The HDAM components are arranged symmetrically on the audio board, shortening the signal path and helping maintain channel separation.
A high-quality EI power transformer supplies the player, while separate attention is given to the analog and digital sections. Two selectable digital filters provide different filtering characteristics for CD and high-resolution USB playback.
CD and CD-R/RW Playback
The CD 60 supports standard CDs as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs. It can also play MP3, WMA, and AAC files recorded on compatible discs.
The transport and digital processing section are designed specifically around CD playback, with a frequency response extending from 2Hz to 20kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 118dB.
High-Resolution USB Audio
A front-panel USB-A port allows the CD 60 to play high-resolution music directly from a USB storage device. Supported formats include FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, and DSD, along with MP3, WMA, and AAC.
USB playback supports PCM files up to 192kHz/24-bit and native DSD playback up to 5.6MHz. This gives the CD 60 the ability to serve as both a dedicated CD player and a high-resolution digital music player.
Dedicated Headphone Amplifier
The CD 60 includes a built-in headphone amplifier using a high-slew-rate op-amp combined with HDAM-SA2 circuitry. Three selectable gain settings, Low, Mid, and High, allow the headphone output to accommodate a wide range of headphones.
The headphone output has its own level control, making the CD 60 a useful source component for both conventional stereo systems and private headphone listening.
Premium Construction and Design
The CD 60 uses a substantial chassis with an aluminum center front panel and Marantz's distinctive modern 50 Series design language. The front display can be set to Bright, Dim, Dark, or Off, while the large control knob provides convenient headphone level adjustment.
