The Marantz SACD 30n is a premium SACD, CD and network audio player designed as a complete digital source for a high-end two-channel system. It combines a dedicated disc transport, Marantz Musical Mastering DAC, custom HDAM analog circuitry, HEOS streaming, USB DAC functionality and a built-in headphone amplifier.
 
The SACD 30n supports SACD, CD, CD-R/RW and compatible DVD media, along with high-resolution files from USB storage, network sources and a computer connected through USB-B. It also provides fixed and variable analog outputs, allowing it to connect directly to a power amplifier or integrated amplifier.
 
SACD and CD Playback
The SACD 30n uses a dedicated disc mechanism designed for SACD and CD playback. It supports SACD, CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, along with compatible DVD media containing supported audio files.
 
For physical media, the player provides a 2Hz-100kHz playable frequency range with SACD and 2Hz-20kHz with CD. SACD playback is rated at 112dB signal-to-noise ratio, 109dB dynamic range and 0.0008% harmonic distortion.
 
Marantz Musical Mastering DAC
The SACD 30n incorporates Marantz Musical Mastering (MMM) conversion rather than relying on a conventional off-the-shelf DAC implementation. MMM-Stream provides two selectable digital filter settings, while a dedicated MMM-Conversion stage handles the digital-to-analog conversion.
 
Jitter reduction and separate clocking for 44.1kHz and 48kHz-based audio further refine the digital signal path. A toroidal power transformer supplies the player, with isolation between the digital and analog sections.
 
High-Resolution USB DAC
The SACD 30n can serve as a standalone DAC for a computer or other compatible digital source. Its asynchronous USB-B input supports PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD up to 11.2MHz.
 
The USB-B input incorporates electrical isolation, helping prevent noise from the connected computer from entering the sensitive analog circuitry. USB-A provides playback from compatible storage devices, supporting FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD files.
 
HEOS Network Streaming
Built-in HEOS gives the SACD 30n access to network music and streaming services without requiring a separate streamer. Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora, SiriusXM, TuneIn and other services are supported, along with AirPlay 2.
 
The network section supports WAV and FLAC up to 192kHz/24-bit, DSD up to 5.6MHz, and gapless playback for compatible FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD files. Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi are built in, while Roon Ready support allows the SACD 30n to be used as part of a Roon-based system.
 
Custom HDAM Analog Circuitry
The SACD 30n uses Marantz HDAM circuitry throughout the analog signal path, with a fully discrete HDAM-SA2 headphone amplifier.
 
The player provides a dedicated variable analog output in addition to its fixed output. The variable output uses a digital volume control, allowing the SACD 30n to be connected directly to a power amplifier in a simplified system.
 
Dedicated Headphone Amplifier
A full-discrete HDAM-SA2 headphone amplifier is built into the SACD 30n. Low, Mid and High gain settings allow the amplifier to accommodate headphones with different impedance and sensitivity characteristics.
 
The 6.3mm headphone output can automatically activate or deactivate the headphone amplifier when headphones are connected or removed.
 
Digital and Analog Connectivity
The SACD 30n provides one coaxial and two optical digital inputs for external sources, plus coaxial and optical digital outputs. A USB-B input provides high-resolution computer audio, while a rear USB-A port supports compatible storage devices.
 
The analog output section uses gold-plated, high-grade brass RCA terminals. There is no balanced XLR output, so the SACD 30n is intended for single-ended analog connection to the downstream amplifier.
