The Marantz CD 50n combines high-quality CD playback, a full network streaming platform, a high-resolution USB DAC, and HDMI ARC in a single component. Designed as part of Marantz's 50 Series, it provides a flexible digital source for a traditional two-channel system while also offering the convenience of HEOS streaming and direct connection to a television.
 
The CD 50n uses Marantz's HDAM circuitry, a dedicated digital engine, selectable digital filters, and carefully separated analog and digital power circuitry. It can also function as a digital preamplifier, allowing its variable analog output to connect directly to a power amplifier.
 
High-Quality CD Playback
The CD 50n is designed specifically for Red Book CD and CD-R/RW playback. Marantz uses its HDAM low-pass filter and HDAM SA2 output buffer to handle the analog signal after conversion, with a separate rectifier circuit for the analog and digital sections.
 
Two selectable digital filters allow you to choose between different filtering characteristics for CD playback and DAC operation. A high-precision master clock helps control timing throughout the digital section.
 
Network Streaming and HEOS
Built-in HEOS gives the CD 50n access to a wide range of streaming services and internet radio. Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, TuneIn, and other services can be accessed through the HEOS app.
 
The network section supports high-resolution PCM and DSD playback, including FLAC and WAV up to 192kHz/24-bit, ALAC up to 96kHz/24-bit, and DSD streaming up to 11.2MHz. Gapless playback is supported for FLAC, WAV, and DSD files.
 
The CD 50n is also Roon Tested, with AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth providing additional wireless playback options.
 
USB DAC and Digital Connectivity
The rear-panel USB-B input turns the CD 50n into a high-resolution DAC for a computer or music server. It supports PCM up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD up to 11.2MHz.
 
Additional digital inputs include optical and coaxial connections, both capable of accepting signals up to 192kHz/24-bit. A front USB-A port can be used for playback from compatible USB storage devices.
 
HDMI ARC for TV Audio
HDMI ARC provides a simple way to integrate the CD 50n into a two-channel system that also handles television audio. A single HDMI connection from a compatible TV allows the audio from television programming, movies, and games to be played through the stereo system.
 
This makes the CD 50n particularly useful in a system where music and TV share the same pair of speakers.
 
Digital Preamp Function and Headphone Output
The CD 50n includes a variable RCA analog output, allowing its output level to be controlled directly from the remote or HEOS app. This makes it possible to connect the player directly to a power amplifier without a separate analog preamplifier.
 
A fixed-level RCA output is also provided for conventional connection to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier. The front-panel headphone amplifier uses HDAM SA2 circuitry and includes its own volume control.
 
Marantz 50 Series Design
The CD 50n features Marantz's contemporary 50 Series design with a substantial metal front panel, three-line OLED display, and available Black or Silver-Gold finishes. The chassis measures 17.4 inches wide, allowing it to integrate naturally with other full-size Marantz components such as the MODEL 50 integrated amplifier.
