The Marantz MODEL 10 is the flagship integrated amplifier in the Marantz lineup, combining 250 watts per channel, a fully balanced dual-mono amplifier topology, a new Marantz switching power supply, MM/MC phono, balanced XLR connectivity and an extensive mechanical design intended to isolate the audio circuitry from vibration and interference.
 
Rated at 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 500 watts per channel into 4 ohms, the MODEL 10 has the output capability to drive demanding high-end loudspeakers. A damping factor of 500 provides substantial electrical control over the speaker load, while total harmonic distortion is specified at just 0.005%.
 
Fully Balanced Dual-Mono Amplifier
The MODEL 10 uses a symmetrical dual-mono amplifier architecture, with the left and right channels treated as independent amplifier sections. The design uses a new Marantz switching-mode power supply developed specifically for the MODEL 10.
 
The amplifier is Class D and delivers 250W + 250W into 8 ohms and 500W + 500W into 4 ohms. The high-current output stage is designed to maintain its performance with demanding speaker loads, while the 500 damping factor provides tight control of the loudspeaker.
 
New Marantz SMPS
The MODEL 10 replaces a conventional large linear power supply with a newly developed Marantz switching power supply. The supply is designed specifically around the requirements of the amplifier, with separate power-supply sections and substantial filtering used to isolate the audio circuitry from unwanted noise.
The amplifier section and power supply are housed within the MODEL 10's mechanically isolated chassis structure, with dedicated sub-enclosures separating critical circuits.
 
New HDAM Circuitry
The MODEL 10 incorporates newly developed Marantz HDAM modules throughout its analog signal path. The amplifier uses fully balanced circuitry from the inputs through the preamplifier section, with carefully designed multilayer PCBs and high-grade components throughout.
 
Both RCA and XLR analog sources can be connected directly, and Power Amp Direct is available through both RCA and XLR connections for integrating the MODEL 10 into more complex systems.
 
Reference MM/MC Phono Stage
The built-in Marantz Musical Premium Phono EQ supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. MC loading can be selected between 33, 100 and 390 ohms, allowing the phono stage to accommodate a broad range of moving-coil cartridges.
 
The phono circuit has a rated RIAA deviation of ±0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. Signal-to-noise ratio is specified at 88dB for MM and 76dB for MC.
 
Extensive Analog Connectivity
The MODEL 10 is designed as a pure analog integrated amplifier. It provides four RCA analog inputs including phono, two balanced XLR inputs, a recorder output, balanced and unbalanced preamp outputs, and Power Amp Direct inputs in both RCA and XLR.
 
Two sets of high-purity copper-plated Marantz SPKT-100+ speaker terminals support bi-wiring. A dedicated headphone amplifier provides 130mW into 32 ohms and automatically disconnects the speaker outputs when headphones are inserted.
 
Tone Controls and Direct Operation
Bass and treble controls provide ±10dB of adjustment at 50Hz and 15kHz respectively. The MODEL 10 can therefore be configured for a completely direct signal path when tone controls are unnecessary, while still providing adjustment when room acoustics, speaker response or personal preference calls for it.
There is no built-in DAC, HDMI, network streaming or HEOS functionality. The MODEL 10 is intended to serve as the central amplification and analog-control component in a high-end system, with digital sources handled by dedicated external components.
 
Reference Construction
The MODEL 10 uses a copper-plated triple-layer chassis with an anodized machined-aluminum front panel, aluminum side panels and a 6mm aluminum top cover. The rear panel and bottom chassis layers are also copper plated.
 
The top incorporates a stainless-steel mesh ventilation section, while the interior can be illuminated to showcase the amplifier's internal construction. Solid aluminum volume and input-selector controls use bearing construction, and the amplifier sits on copper-plated aluminum feet.
 
The front-panel porthole houses a high-definition TFT color display with a digital level meter styled after traditional analog meters. Display brightness can be adjusted through 20 levels, while the interior and edge lighting can also be dimmed.
