The Marantz AMP 10 is a 16-channel power amplifier designed for high-performance home theater systems requiring substantial power across a large number of channels. It delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and can be configured for bi-amping or bridged operation, making it suitable for large Dolby Atmos and other multichannel installations.
The AMP 10 combines custom Class D amplification with Marantz's HDAM-SA2 circuitry in a chassis designed around consistent performance across all 16 channels. Its high channel count allows a single amplifier to power an entire theater system without requiring multiple separate amplifiers.
16 Channels of Class D Power
Each of the AMP 10's 16 amplifier channels is rated at 200 watts into 8 ohms. In two-channel BTL operation, output increases to 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The amplifier is also capable of 400 watts into 4 ohms in normal operation.
Marantz uses custom switching amplifier modules designed specifically for the AMP 10. The Class D architecture allows the amplifier to provide substantial power from a relatively compact chassis while maintaining efficient operation.
Custom HDAM-SA2
The AMP 10 incorporates Marantz's HDAM-SA2 amplification circuitry, which is used in conjunction with the custom Class D output stages. Marantz's Sound Master tuning is applied to the amplifier's overall voicing and performance.
The amplifier's design is intended to maintain consistent output as additional channels are driven, an important consideration for large home theater systems where multiple channels can demand significant power simultaneously.
Flexible System Configuration
The AMP 10 provides 16 balanced and unbalanced amplifier inputs, with a selector allowing the input configuration to be chosen for the installation. All 16 channels have dedicated speaker terminals.
Bi-amping and BTL bridging are supported, allowing the amplifier to be configured for different speaker and system requirements. A front-panel level meter provides a visual indication of amplifier operation.
For custom installations, the AMP 10 includes RS-232 control, an IR flasher input, Marantz Remote Bus, and 12V DC trigger input and output connections.
Marantz Design
The AMP 10 uses a copper-plated chassis and metal front panel, along with Marantz's distinctive circular porthole-style level meter and subtle front-panel illumination. The amplifier is crafted in Shirakawa, Japan.
At 17.4 inches wide and less than 7.5 inches high, the AMP 10 packs 16 channels of amplification into a relatively compact chassis, making it particularly well suited to rack-based home theater installations.
