The AudioSolutions Figaro L2 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed to deliver the scale and bandwidth of a large high-end speaker while remaining relatively straightforward to drive and position. It is part of the second-generation Figaro series, introduced with a redesigned driver complement, updated cabinet construction and a wider range of finish options.
 
The L2 uses AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn loaded silk-dome tweeter, an Extended-Band midrange driver and two newly developed ER (Extra Rigid) paper-cone bass drivers. The combination is designed around broad driver operating ranges and crossover points positioned away from the most sensitive region of human hearing.
 
Driver Configuration
The Figaro L2 uses a 19mm silk-dome tweeter, an 18.3cm ER paper-cone midrange and two 23.3cm ER paper-cone bass drivers.
 
The midrange is an Extended-Band design covering from 400Hz to 4000Hz. Rather than placing crossover points in the highly sensitive 1–2kHz region, AudioSolutions moves the transitions farther away from this range. This allows the midrange driver to reproduce a larger portion of the vocal and instrumental spectrum without being interrupted by a crossover.
 
Mini-Horn Tweeter
The 19mm silk-dome tweeter incorporates AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn loading. The acoustic impedance created by the horn helps control the movement of the soft dome as output levels increase.
 
The Mini-Horn is designed to reduce the deformation and nonlinear movement that can occur in a soft-dome tweeter when it is driven hard. It also increases the efficiency of the tweeter, contributing to the Figaro L2's 92dB sensitivity.
 
ER Paper Cone Bass Drivers
Two 23.3cm ER bass drivers handle the low frequencies. ER stands for Extra Rigid paper, combining traditional paper-cone damping with hard pulp and reinforcing fibers.
 
The added reinforcement allows the cone to behave more like a rigid piston while retaining the natural damping characteristics of paper. AudioSolutions developed the ER cone to avoid the early breakup and ringing that can accompany some harder cone materials.
 
Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet
The Figaro L2 uses AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure system, a construction borrowed from the company's higher-end Virtuoso series.
The system consists of an inner and outer cabinet bonded together with a thin layer of viscous polyurethane. The inner cabinet absorbs primary vibration from the drivers, while the polyurethane layer converts vibrational energy into heat. The heavier outer cabinet then provides additional mass damping.
 
This creates a more controlled enclosure for the drivers while reducing unwanted cabinet resonance.
 
Placement and Connections
The Figaro L2 is designed to be relatively easy to integrate into a listening room and can be positioned close to the rear wall. Height-adjustable spikes and outriggers make it possible to level the speaker and establish a solid connection with the floor.
 
WBT NextGen terminals are provided, with bi-amping capability included on the L and XL models.
 
The L2 is available in multiple finishes, including high-gloss and newer satin finishes with brass accents. AudioSolutions also offers its Exclusive Personalisation program for custom colors and one-off configurations.
