The AudioSolutions Figaro M2 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed to combine high sensitivity, straightforward amplifier matching and flexible room placement with AudioSolutions' distinctive cabinet and driver technologies. It is the mid-sized model in the second-generation Figaro range and is designed to work well even when positioned relatively close to the rear wall.
 
The M2 uses a Mini-Horn loaded silk-dome tweeter, an Extended-Band midrange driver and two newly redesigned ER paper-cone bass drivers. The crossover points are set at 400Hz and 4000Hz, keeping the transitions away from the 1–2kHz region where human hearing is particularly sensitive to distortion and phase changes.
 
Driver Configuration
The Figaro M2 uses a 19mm silk-dome tweeter, a 15.2cm ER paper-cone midrange and two 18.3cm ER paper-cone bass drivers.
 
The midrange operates as an Extended-Band driver, covering a broad portion of the midrange between the 400Hz and 4000Hz crossover points. This allows a single driver to reproduce much of the vocal and instrumental range rather than placing a crossover in the most sensitive area of human hearing.
 
Mini-Horn Loaded Tweeter
The 19mm silk-dome tweeter is loaded by AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn. The system uses acoustic impedance in front of the dome to help control its movement as output levels rise.
 
This approach is intended to address the nonlinear movement and distortion that can occur with soft-dome tweeters at high signal levels. The Mini-Horn also increases the efficiency of the tweeter, contributing to the M2's 91.5dB sensitivity.
 
ER Paper Cone Bass Drivers
Two 18.3cm bass drivers use AudioSolutions' ER, or Extra Rigid, paper-cone construction. The cones combine paper with hard pulp and reinforcing fibers to increase rigidity while retaining the natural damping characteristics of paper.
 
The result is a cone designed to operate with more piston-like movement without the early breakup and ringing that can occur with some rigid cone materials.
 
Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet
The Figaro M2 incorporates AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure system, developed from the company's higher-end Virtuoso range.
 
The enclosure uses separate inner and outer cabinets bonded together with a thin layer of viscous polyurethane. The inner cabinet absorbs primary vibrations from the drivers, the polyurethane layer converts vibrational energy into heat, and the heavier outer cabinet provides additional mass damping.
 
The result is a heavily controlled enclosure intended to minimize unwanted cabinet resonance and allow the drivers to operate with greater precision.
 
Design and Connections
The M2 includes height-adjustable outriggers and spikes for leveling and floor coupling. WBT NextGen connection terminals are available, with optional bi-amping capability.
 
The second-generation Figaro range also introduces new satin finishes with brass accents alongside the traditional high-gloss finishes. AudioSolutions offers additional customization through its Exclusive Personalisation program.
