The AudioSolutions Figaro XL2 is the largest model in the second-generation Figaro series. It combines a three-way design with a substantial six-driver array, using two extended-band midrange drivers and four dedicated bass drivers. Like the other Figaro MK2 models, the XL2 is designed to be relatively easy to drive and can be positioned close to the rear wall, making it easier to integrate into a real-world listening room.
 
The XL2 also incorporates AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure, Mini-Horn loaded tweeter, Extended-Band midrange and newly redesigned ER (Extra Rigid) paper-cone bass drivers.
 
Driver Configuration
The XL2 uses a 19mm silk-dome tweeter, two 15.2cm ER paper-cone midrange drivers and four 23.3cm ER paper-cone bass drivers. The midrange section operates across a particularly broad range, with crossover points at 400Hz and 4000Hz.
 
AudioSolutions designed the Extended-Band midrange to move the crossover points away from the 1–2kHz region where human hearing is most sensitive. The result is a larger portion of the midband reproduced by the same driver pair rather than divided between multiple drivers around the most sensitive part of the audible spectrum.
 
Mini-Horn Loaded Tweeter
The 19mm silk-dome tweeter uses AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn loading system. Rather than simply increasing mechanical damping, the Mini-Horn uses the acoustic impedance created in front of the dome to control its movement as output levels increase.
 
The design is intended to reduce the distortion associated with soft-dome tweeters being driven at high levels while also increasing the tweeter's efficiency.
 
ER Paper Cone Bass Drivers
Four 23.3cm ER bass drivers provide the XL2's low-frequency output. ER stands for Extra Rigid, referring to AudioSolutions' combination of paper, hard pulp and reinforcing fibers.
 
The material is intended to provide some of the piston-like behavior of harder cone materials while retaining the inherent damping characteristics of paper. AudioSolutions uses the same ER cone concept for the midrange drivers.
 
Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet
The XL2 uses AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure system, derived from the company's higher-end Virtuoso designs.
 
The enclosure consists of separate inner and outer cabinets bonded together with a thin layer of viscous polyurethane. The inner cabinet controls primary vibrations, the polyurethane layer converts vibrational energy into heat, and the heavier outer cabinet provides additional mass damping.
 
This construction is designed to reduce cabinet resonance and allow the drivers to operate against a more controlled mechanical reference.
 
Design and Connections
The XL2 is equipped with height-adjustable outriggers and spikes for leveling and floor coupling. WBT NextGen terminals are used for the speaker connections, with bi-amping capability included on the XL model.
 
AudioSolutions offers the Figaro XL2 in a range of high-gloss and satin finishes, with brass accents on the new satin options. Custom finishes are also available through the company's Exclusive Personalization program.
