The AudioSolutions Figaro S2 is the compact floorstanding model in the second-generation Figaro series. It uses the same core technologies found throughout the range, including a Mini-Horn loaded silk-dome tweeter, Extended-Band midrange, ER paper-cone bass drivers and AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure.
 
The S2 is designed to be easy to drive and straightforward to integrate into a listening room. Its relatively compact footprint and ability to work close to the rear wall make it a practical choice for smaller rooms without giving up the scale and presentation of a dedicated floorstanding speaker.
 
Driver Configuration
The S2 uses a three-way design with a 19mm silk-dome tweeter, a 15.2cm ER paper-cone midrange and two 15.2cm ER paper-cone bass drivers.
 
The midrange is designed as an Extended-Band driver, covering the broad range between the 400Hz and 4000Hz crossover points. AudioSolutions places these crossover frequencies well away from the 1–2kHz region where human hearing is particularly sensitive, reducing the audibility of crossover-related distortion and phase shifts.
 
Mini-Horn Loaded Tweeter
The 19mm silk-dome tweeter uses AudioSolutions' Mini-Horn loading system. The horn creates acoustic impedance in front of the dome, helping to control its movement as output levels increase.
 
This is intended to address the deformation and nonlinear movement that can occur with soft-dome tweeters when driven at high levels. The Mini-Horn also increases tweeter efficiency, contributing to the S2's 91dB sensitivity.
 
ER Paper Cone Bass Drivers
Two 15.2cm bass drivers use AudioSolutions' ER, or Extra Rigid, paper-cone construction. The cones combine traditional paper with hard pulp and reinforcing fibers to increase rigidity while retaining paper's natural damping characteristics.
The result is a driver designed for more controlled, piston-like movement without the early breakup and ringing that can occur with some rigid cone materials.
 
Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet
The Figaro S2 uses AudioSolutions' Cabinet-in-a-Cabinet enclosure system, originally developed for the company's higher-end Virtuoso series.
 
The construction uses separate inner and outer cabinets bonded together with a thin layer of viscous polyurethane. The inner cabinet absorbs primary vibrations generated by the drivers, while the polyurethane layer converts vibrational energy into heat. The heavier outer cabinet then provides additional mass damping.
 
This multi-layer approach reduces unwanted cabinet resonance and gives the drivers a more controlled enclosure in which to operate.
 
Design and Connections
The S2 incorporates height-adjustable outriggers and spikes for leveling and floor coupling. The speaker uses WBT NextGen connection terminals, while bi-amping is available on the larger L2 and XL2 models in the Figaro range.
 
The S2 is available in three standard high-gloss finishes—Pearl White, Zinc Grey and Dark Grey—as well as four bespoke satin finishes with brass accents. AudioSolutions also offers extensive custom finishes through its Exclusive Personalisation program.
