The Marantz CINEMA 50 is a high-performance AV receiver designed for serious home theater systems, combining nine channels of Class A/B amplification with 11.4 channels of processing. With 110 watts per channel, four independent subwoofer outputs, seven? Wait, the CINEMA 50 has six HDMI inputs, all supporting 8K, plus three HDMI outputs. It provides enough processing and connectivity for a full immersive theater while retaining the simplicity of a single receiver.
 
The CINEMA 50 uses discrete amplification, current feedback topology, HDAM circuitry, and a carefully designed power supply. It also includes Audyssey MultEQ XT32 with Dirac Live upgradeability, HEOS streaming, and a complete set of 11.4-channel preamp outputs for adding external amplification later.
 
9.4 Channels of Class A/B Amplification
The CINEMA 50 has nine discrete Class A/B amplifier channels rated at 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with two channels driven. The amplifier section uses Marantz's current feedback topology and can be configured for bi-amping.
 
With 11 speaker terminals and 11.4-channel processing, the CINEMA 50 can accommodate a variety of immersive speaker layouts. Its 11.4-channel preamp outputs also allow external amplifiers to be added when more power or additional channels are required.
 
11.4-Channel Processing
The CINEMA 50 processes up to 11.4 channels and supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced, 360 Reality Audio, and MPEG-H.
 
Four independent subwoofer outputs provide greater flexibility for systems using multiple subwoofers. Audyssey's room correction and the receiver's bass-management tools can then be used to optimize the integration between the main speakers and subwoofers.
 
HDMI 2.1 and 8K Video
The CINEMA 50 has six HDMI inputs, all supporting 8K video. HDMI 2.1 features include 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz, along with up to 40Gbps bandwidth on compatible connections.
 
Three HDMI outputs provide flexibility for multiple displays and zones, with the main output supporting eARC. HDR10, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, HLG, and Dolby Vision are supported, as are Auto Low Latency Mode, Variable Refresh Rate, and Quick Frame Transport for gaming.
 
Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Dirac Live
Audyssey MultEQ XT32 provides automatic room correction and speaker calibration. Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume, and Audyssey LFC provide additional control over listening levels and low-frequency response.
 
The CINEMA 50 is also Dirac Live upgradeable. Variable crossover adjustment, optimized bass redirection, and Bass Sync provide additional tools for integrating the speakers and subwoofers in more demanding rooms.
 
Marantz HDAM and Two-Channel Performance
Although the CINEMA 50 is primarily designed as a home theater receiver, Marantz has given the analog section considerable attention. HDAM circuitry, current feedback topology, a clock jitter reducer, and gold-plated RCA terminals are used throughout the signal path.
 
Pure Direct mode provides a more direct signal path when desired. A dedicated MM phono input also allows a turntable to be connected directly to the receiver, making the CINEMA 50 suitable for both movie systems and two-channel music listening.
 
HEOS High-Resolution Streaming
HEOS Built-in provides access to Qobuz, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Spotify Connect, Pandora, SiriusXM, Deezer, TuneIn, and other streaming services. Network playback supports FLAC, WAV, and ALAC files up to 192kHz/24-bit, along with DSD at 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz.
 
The CINEMA 50 is Roon Tested and also supports AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. HEOS multi-room functionality allows compatible Marantz and HEOS products to share music throughout the home.
 
Custom Installation
The CINEMA 50 includes IP, RS-232, web, app, IR, and Marantz Remote Bus control. Control4, OvrC, and Josh.ai integration make it suitable for professionally installed systems.
 
Two multi-room zones provide additional audio and video flexibility, while a DC trigger output can be used to control compatible external equipment.
