The Marantz STEREO 70s is a versatile two-channel stereo receiver designed for listeners who want serious music performance along with the connectivity needed for a modern home entertainment system. Its slim chassis makes it easy to place in furniture or smaller equipment racks, while the discrete Class A/B amplifier delivers 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
 
The STEREO 70s combines a traditional stereo receiver with many of the features normally associated with a home theater receiver. Six HDMI inputs make it easy to connect a television, streaming devices, game consoles and other video sources, with three HDMI inputs supporting 8K video. HDMI ARC/eARC provides a straightforward connection to a compatible TV, allowing the receiver to handle television audio through the same system.
 
For music playback, the STEREO 70s includes Marantz's HDAM circuitry, a high-resolution DAC, HEOS built-in, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Roon compatibility. Network playback supports PCM files up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD up to 5.6MHz. HEOS provides access to services including Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, TuneIn and others, while also allowing the receiver to be integrated into a multi-room HEOS system.
 
A built-in MM phono stage makes it possible to connect a turntable directly, while optical and coaxial digital inputs provide additional options for digital sources. Two subwoofer outputs allow the STEREO 70s to be configured as a 2.2-channel system, making it particularly useful with bookshelf speakers that benefit from dedicated low-frequency support.
 
The STEREO 70s also works well as the centerpiece of a combined music and television system. It supports Dolby Audio, 8K video, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, VRR, ALLM and QFT, while its 2.2-channel architecture keeps the system considerably simpler than a conventional multichannel AVR.
 
The front panel features Marantz's familiar porthole OLED display and large control knobs, while the relatively shallow chassis is only 4.3 inches high without the antennas. The result is a compact receiver with a broad range of analog, digital, network and HDMI connectivity without requiring a full-size component.
